Four Down

Day four of the Keeping It Clean Challenge is over and I can’t explain how much of a difference I am already feeling in my body between Saturday and today.  It’s amazing what fueling yourself with healthy, good for you food can do for not only your physical well-being but also your emotional and spiritual well beings.  Energy levels are higher and I’m feeling great!

Today’s eats were invaded by recipes from Tone It Up‘s Nutrition Plan!  I finally had time to sit down and look through all of the recipes last night and I immediately picked out multiple that I couldn’t wait to make – two of which came into play in today’s clean eats.

Breakfast:

Oatmeal with Agave Nectar, Banana Slices & Raisins

Morning Snack:

Now that you have seen my (mostly) clean eats on the day, check out the meal plans of Cookies & Crunches & Any Little Thing.  I’m loving having others involved in this challenge along with me  – thanks again for participating and sharing ladies!

**********

Last night I asked if anyone wanted to join me on the Keeping if Clean Challenge and so far two other bloggers are on board!

If anyone else wants to clean up their diets this week as well, blogger or not, it’s not too late to join us!

In order to keep up with one another, we can blog our daily clean eats and link back to each other’s blogs.  That way, we can also steal a clean meal here or there along the way and discuss any hurdles that may be thrown at us during the challenge!  If you aren’t a blogger and want to join in the fun, just comment on the daily challenge posts with your eats from the day!

Keeping It Clean

The past couple of weeks haven’t been the prettiest for me eating-wise. There has been ice cream desserts on a nightly basis, a ton of snack packs and bars and lots of dinners out.  The majority of my meals have been relatively healthy; however, it’s the ones that aren’t that are the trouble.  If I’m eating something bad, I’m going way overboard.  That’s just how my body and cravings work – once I get a taste of something sweet or indulgent, I’ll eat it until I make myself sick – just because.  Stupid, I know.

With that being said, I have a personal challenge for myself for the next week.  Starting this morning, I’ve challenged myself to 7 days of (mostly) clean eating. I know that with the current circumstances of baseball life abroad, there will be some struggles with 100% clean eating but I plan to aim for 80% of my total food intake at the end of the week to be clean.  In my opinion, I will consider this challenge a success if I cut out the loads of sugary sweets and processed snacks that I have been consuming way too much of.

I’m hoping it helps to kick the sugar cravings I’ve been having at night and to just gives my body the healthy reboot it currently needs.

In my opinion, I will consider this challenge a success if I cut out the loads of sugary sweets and processed snacks that I have been consuming way too much of.  My definition of “clean” for this week is healthy foods that are giving my body the nutrients that it needs to feel “cleansed” of the crap I’ve been allowing to sneak into my diet.  I’m, by no means, against limited consumption of sweets and processed foods and absolutely plan to reintroduce them in moderation after this week.

So far, so good with today’s eats.

Breakfast:

Oatmeal with raisins, banana slices and honey.

Morning Snack:

Peanut Butter & Jelly Lara Bar.

Lunch:

A burrito bowl with shredded chicken breast, rice, beans, salsa and avocado.

Afternoon Snack:

Protein smoothie with frozen banana, soy milk and spinach.

Dinner:

Pork tenderloin on salad greens with pineapple, avocado, muesli mix and salsa for dressing.  Green beans were eaten on the side.

And who says you can’t have dessert while still eating clean?!  Not this girl of course.

Dessert:

Two Chewy Banana Honey Oat Squares with peanut butter.

Here’s to the next 6 days!

Anyone else up for the clean eating challenge?! I’d love to see what meals and snacks you eat on a clean diet…so feel free to share!!!
